What is a Cationic Softener?

A Cationic Softener is a positively charged finishing agent that binds well with negatively charged fibers such as cotton and viscose. It improves the surface smoothness, pliability, and feel of the fabric, while also providing anti-static properties, reduced yarn friction, and improved sewability. Cationic softeners are especially preferred for natural and regenerated cellulosic fibers, although modern formulations work well with synthetics too.
